Returns location-level hazard curve metrics for the specified hazard curve analysis.
A hazard curve analysis is a type probabilistic analysis produced using an HD Earthquake model (e.g. EUEQ). Unlike exceedance probability analysis, which return the probability of losses exceeding a specific threshold, a hazard curve analysis returns ground-motion intensity values at fixed return periods across multiple locations.
For each modeled location exposure this operation returns the following ground motion metrics:
- Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) metrics measure the maximum acceleration of the ground surface during shaking, independent of any structure. Unlike Spectral Acceleration metrics (SA), PGA metrics are not tied to a structural period, i.e. the period of vibration, which depends on its construction type and number of stories .
- Spectral Acceleration (SA) metrics measure the peak acceleration response of a building, modeled as a single oscillator at its fundamental period of vibration, during shaking (i.e. the structural period). Unlike Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA), SA is reported for a specific structural period.
Moody's recommends that Intelligent Risk Platform tenants use hazard curves as a tool for validating Moody's RMS models (i.e. Moodyʼs HD hazard models) by comparing them to other third-party hazard maps or curves.
