Creates a building attribute for the specified location.
A building attribute is characteristic of a building at a location exposure that defines the vulnerability of the building to risk. Building attributes include primary characteristics and secondary modifiers.
- A primary characteristic defines the primary structural characteristics of a structure at a location include construction class (
construction), the year the structure was built (yearBuilt), the number of stories (numOfStories), and the type of occupancy (occupancy). - A secondary modifier defines site-specific construction and occupancy features of a location. Often derived from engineering or inspection reports for buildings known to differ from the industry average, secondary modifiers apply a credit or penalty to the mean damage ratio computed from a primary damage function for a particular combination of primary modifiers. The magnitude of the credit or penalty is dependent on the level of hazard modeled during an event. Secondary modifiers can only be defined if all primary modifiers are known for the modeled risk or location.
This operation supports defining the following building attributes: buildingAttributeId, claddingPressureResistance, claddingType, dockDoorAreaPercent, dockDoorPressureResistance, flashingPulloutResistance, isValid, missileExposure, roofArea, roofCoverResistanceCorner, roofCoverResistanceField, roofCoverResistancePerimeter, roofCoverType, roofDeckResistanceCorner, roofDeckResistanceField, roofDeckResistancePerimeter, roofDeckType, roofSlope, rooftopEquipment, skylightAreaPercent, skylightImpactResistance, uri, windowGlassdoorAreaPercent, windowGlassdoorDoublepane, windowGlassdoorGlassType, windowGlassdoorProtectionAdequacy, windowGlassdoorProtectionType, windowGlassdoorThickness, yearBuilt.
Core building attributes are defined in the property object of a location. Additional property attributes are defined in the buildingAttribute and esdbBuildingAttribute objects.
Exposure Enrichment
The Enrich Exposure API exposes operations that support exposure enrichment.
Depending on the options specified, exposure enrichment can supplement or overwrite a location's building attributes. Adds many peril-specific secondary modifiers.
Exposure enrichment workflows require that tenant license separate data products. To learn more, see Exposure Enrichment API Overview.
