Simulate PLT analysis

Generates a PLT-based HD analysis from an existing ELT-based DLM analysis using data in a specified simulation set to create the period loss table.

The simulated PLT analysis returns the event ID of every event in each simulated period, and the calculated loss value of each of these events.

The service accepts the id of an ELT-based analysis as a path parameter. All other parameters are specified in the request body:

  • The eventRateSchemeID identifies the event rate set the PLT Engine uses to calculate a PLT-based analysis. The PLT Engine substitutes the specified event rate for the event rate used to calculate the original ELT-based analysis.
  • The simulationSetId identifies the pre-generated period event quantile table (PEQT) that the PLT Engine will use to create the PLT.
  • The simulationPeriods specifies the number of the simulation periods the PLT Engine will use to generate a period loss table using the specified simulation set. Engine runs for the simulation set. RMS recommends that you run the full number of simulation periods.

The number of simulation periods used in an analysis determines the number of possible outcomes that are modeled over the calendar period in order to calculate the OEP and AEP curves. Greater numbers of periods increase the accuracy of modeled results but also increase analysis time and the size of the output data.

On submission, the service initiates a SIMULATE_LOSSES job on the workflow engine. The response header returns a 202 Accepted status and the URI to the job status in the Location header. To learn more, see Workflow Engine.
